serendipity

noun

The occurrence of events by chance in a happy and beneficial way. Luck that you could not have planned for.

Nuance

Coined by Horace Walpole after the fairy tale of "The Three Princes of Serendip": the word was itself a serendipitous invention.

It was pure serendipity that they were both on that platform at that moment.
